Behind the Scenes of Our Music Nights

We’ve had quite a few messages and questions recently about not being able to get into our music nights, so we just wanted to explain a little about what happens behind the scenes 🎶

Three events per month

At the moment, we’re limited to three licensed music events per month. Even private parties require licensing, and we can’t open bookings until we’ve had official approval confirmed.

In the past, we’ve unfortunately had to refund deposits when permissions didn’t come through in time - and we never want to put anyone in that position again. So the rule we’ve set for ourselves is simple: no booking opens until the licence is in our hands.

What a music licence actually involves

Music licences involve far more than just booking a singer. There’s:

• Detailed paperwork
• Correct insurance in place
• Fire safety checks and extinguishers signed off
• Evacuation plans
• Capacity limits
• Risk assessments
• Sound regulations
• Ensuring our premises licence conditions are met each time

It’s something we take very seriously, to make sure everyone is safe and everything is done properly.

Why we sometimes have to say no

We truly wish we could accommodate everyone, but we have to operate within the regulations set for us. When we say a night is full, it’s not a marketing tactic - it’s because we’ve reached the capacity our licence permits for that event.

We’d also kindly like to remind everyone that these requirements are completely outside of our team’s control. Our staff work incredibly hard to make every night special, and it’s never their decision when an event is full or when we’re unable to take bookings. Please be kind to them - they’re doing their best.

What the expansion changes

The exciting part is that once we take over the unit next door, we’ll have more space and more flexibility - which means more opportunities for everyone to join us 🤍

We can’t promise we’ll never have to turn anyone away again (see the licensing reality above), but we can promise there’ll be more seats, more dates, and more reasons to come down.
